Somehow it's the end of May...not really sure how that happened, but here we are. Memorial Day weekend.......beaches (we have 3 in our town) open up this weekend......and we plan on spending the majority of our time there, soaking in the sun and relaxing.
Despite my crazy commute into Chicago to work, I love the town we live in....and in the summer, the beaches are one of my favorite things. Our beach bag and chairs are always ready to grab + go, and our house for the next 3 months turns into our very own version of a beach house.

I am a huge lover of fashion blogs....but sometimes I feel like everyone is constantly trying to look like someone else and follow some type of rule/formula for what to wear. And don't get me wrong, to some degree we all mimic someone else....but at the end of the day I still want to look like myself (or the best possible version of myself anyway)....and have my own style.
At 41 I'm finally realizing what works and what doesn't work on my body. Some trends I love, but I know that I will look ridiculous in them, so I admire them on others instead. I'm not a big fan of pants. If I could live the rest of my life in skirts + dresses, I would. I love big jewelry. Always have. Just a few of my little quirks that ultimately help define my 'style'.
What are some things that you would say you lean towards stylewise?
On May 19, 1943 a baby girl was born in Coahuila, Mexico. She would not have the easiest life, in fact when I've told stories of her childhood my friends have been amazed that a little girl had to endure what she did.
But she did. And she became the amazing woman that she is today. She is a very big part of the reason that I am who I am, and that makes me proud.
She is fiercely loyal, has a thick Mexican accent (which I am clearly oblivious to, since that's all I've ever known), loves to laugh, and most of all..... she is a fighter (in the best possible sense of the term).
Here in Chicago it's supposed to be glorious weather this weekend..... sunny + in the 80's <insert fist pump here> ! What's better on a sunny, warm day than a nice sweet treat?! Ice cream + a cookie?.....yum.
Make these. Please. And have ice cream dripping down the side of your hand + a HUGE smile on your face.
The ice cream and cookie combinations are endless.
