Hey Team,
Welcome to Shut Up Fridays!
I am very excited for my first guest post. I thought I would kick this off with a bit of a debatable piece of clothing…the overalls. You either love em’ or you hate em’. As you can see, this Chiquita loves them, always have and always will. They are comfortable, you can eat whatever you want in them and breathe and you can change your oil if need be.

You a lover or a hater?

Love the post! I am so happy that Shut Up! has finally taken off. I look forward to reading your post EACH Friday. :)
ReplyDeleteSo I have a few questions about the overalls. First off I just want to say that I think you look fabulous in them and I am not just saying that because you are my BFF..you really do. So my questions are, for people who aren't fashion forward in their daily style, can they pull them off? And are there special things to look for when buying a 2012 pair of overalls? I think the majority of readers probably wore them back in the 90's and I am pretty sure that tight Tommy Hilfiger overalls are not fashionable 20 years later. So should we be looking for bagginess in certain areas? Length? And finally, do you have a few brands that you could suggest? Thank so much! Great post and I can't wait to read more!!!
Not everyone can work a pair of overalls like you, Mallory. I, for one, would look like a poor farmer. They do not work for me. Part of that, I think, is that I was in college the last time overalls were hip and I rocked them all the time. I think you have to be very careful about working a trend the second time around - the rules are different.
ReplyDeleteYou make them look fun and fashionable. I would say this is something that is not for beginners. If you are the slightest bit nervous about overalls (or any bold fashion choice), chances are it will not work for you!
Well Hello JohnnaMichele!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment!
I am a huge believer in if you like what you have on and feel confident in it, you can pull it off. With regards to the style of the overalls, my first suggestion is to make sure they are not too small. Nothing worse than a pair of tight overalls accentuating areas that should be left to the imagination, if you know what I mean :) I prefer the overalls to be a bit baggy in the top portion so you can layer thick sweaters underneath and then tighter in the legs so it gives your body shape. I too rocked some baggy overalls back in the days and while they were fabulous in the 90's, leave the huge ones behind!
THANKS JMP!
Love this...12th grade I begged for burgandy Guess overalls - got them and wore them ALL the time! Loved!
