We had a wonderful week in Michigan. The weather was perfect. The relentless heat we had been experiencing took a brief hiatus and went back down to normal summer temps, and it was glorious. Just glorious.
We spent a ton of time at the beach and everyone in our group got on Brett's paddleboard (his 40th bday present to himself) at one time or another throughout the week. Ryan was a natural on it. Sadly, I was not. I may have fallen off a couple of times and made a fool of myself...........BUT, I tried. And it was after that little attempt that I vowed to myself to do better on it next summer.
We hit our favorite restaurant in town - The Stray Dog, and made a trip to their gear store to get the kids new tshirts for our annual picture. Sadly, this past Tuesday night an electrical fire took the restaurant down....thankfully no one was hurt! The owners stated that they are already talking about rebuilding...so, we hope it's back for our trip next year.
Our last night was spent watching the movie The Muppets....all of us, on a huge sectional couch....movie tickets, popcorn...the whole shebang. The majority of us had never seen it before, so it was a real treat, and ones that had made our experience all the more entertaining. ;) Fast forward to the end of the movie when Kermit + Ms. Piggy are singing The Rainbow Connection...and we all join in. It was sweet + comical all at the same time.
